The Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, paid a courtesy visit to Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in his office today, June 15, 2022. He was in the Hajj House to make a request and exchange pleasantries, according to the governor of the state.

Alhaji Muhammad Abba Dambatta, Executive Secretary, Kano State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board; Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Dawakin Tofa, Permanent Secretary, Protocol Directorate; and S. AbdulHadi, Liaison Officer, Kano State Government House, Abuja accompanied the governor on his visit.

In a statement signed by Fatima Sands Usara, AD, Public Affairs, NAHCON noted that, Alhaji Umar Ganduje lauded NAHCON Chairman for many initiatives among which is the take-off of the Hajj Savings Scheme, designed to aid low-income earners and others in paying gradually for a chance to perform Hajj. He said Kano state had embraced the scheme right from the start, reason why an enabling environment was created for its success in the state.

He expressed gratitude to NAHCON for the government’s assistance in constructing a functional Hajj clinic in Kano. His Excellency praised the positive relationship his administration has with NAHCON, as well as NAHCON’s relationships with other state governments.

Meanwhile, The Executive Governor reminded Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan that work on the hotel like construction has stopped, a situation that might incur additional cost due to constant rise in the prices of building materials. He called for urgent action on the matter. Finally, Alhaji Umar Ganduje requested for additional slots for his state if by chance there is any available.

Alhaji Hassan welcomed the Governor at the Hajj House, calling it “historic.” He claimed that the governor was the HSS’s strongest backer and that he was sympathetic to NAHCON leadership. According to the NAHCON Chairman, Kano was the first state where the Commission’s Public Private Partnership program was successfully implemented. He expressed his gratitude to him.
Alhaji Hassan also described Kano as important to NAHCON promising to assist Kano with its requests out of respect for the state.

The NAHCON Chairman cited budgetary constraints as the reason for the hotel construction pause.

NAHCON’s three permanent commissioners and directors were among the other dignitaries in attendance.
