Gombe State, is home to the Kaltungo Central Mosque & Islamic Centre. In Kaltungo local government it is the largest Jumma’at mosque. The Mosque provides a welcoming environment for study and worship.
Sir Ahmadu Bello, the late Northern Nigerian Premier, built the Central Mosque more than sixty years ago.
Due to an increase in the number of worshippers, a 15-member committee was formed to oversee the mosque’s rebuilding, which was led by Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the committee’s Chairman.
The Committee’s initial move was to construct the Mosque, which has a capacity of 2,000 worshippers and includes a separate section for women, an Islamic Center, and other amenities.
The cost of rebuilding Kaltungo Central Mosque is estimated to be over 250 million Naira (N250,000,000). The mosque is fully finished and will reopen to the public in May 2022.
