1,403 Persons Register For 2022 Hajj In Kwara

A total of 1,403 intended pilgrims from Kwara State are anticipated to undertake the Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2022.

This was said by AbdulGaniyi Ahmed, Executive Secretary of the Kwara Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lorin on Monday.

He stated that the 1,403 seats allotted to Kwara out of the 43,000 allotted to Nigeria were approved during a meeting in Abuja of the Chief Executives of State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards,Agencies, and Commissions.

Mr. Ahmed stated that each intending pilgrim who wishes to embark on the holy journey would be required to pay N2.5 million.

He stated that depending on the exchange rate of the dollar to the naira when the pilgrims are ready to travel for the Hajj, this amount could be increased or decreased later.

“NAHCOM is still computing the specific Hajj fare to be paid by every prospective pilgrim for 2022 Hajj taking cognisance of what will be the exchange rate of the dollar to the naira then. That will affect the cost of aviation fuel and other logistics,’’ he said.

The Executive Secretary praised the Kwara Government for its extensive efforts, which he said had always ensured the board’s successful Hajj operations in the past.
