As a Muslim, I enjoy eating dates because of their flavor and health benefits. Breaking the fast with fresh or dry dates was recommended by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Dates are now known to be high in fiber, potassium, and other minerals. My anecdote isn’t just about agonizing childhood longing; it’s about a fundamental aspect of Muslim identity.
