Brief profile
Engr. Abiodun M. Aibinu is a Professor at the Federal University of Technology Minna’s Department of Mechatronics Engineering and the Director of the Federal University of Technology Minna’s Center for Open Distance and e-Learning (CODEL).
Digital signal and image processing, instrumentation and measurement, intelligent system design, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms, are among his research interests.
He got his National Diploma from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Nigeria; his B.Sc from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria; his M.sc from Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Sweden; and in 2010, he earned a Ph.D. from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Since completing his post-graduate studies, he has been actively involved in teaching and research at a number of universities.
Prior to that, he worked for MTN Communication (Nigeria) Limited, GS Telecom (Nigeria) Limited, DCC Satellite and Networks Limited, Oganla Consulting and Investment (OCI) Limited, Communications Associates (COMSAC) (Nigeria) Limited, and Oganla Consulting and Investment (OCI) Limited, to name a few.
Prof. Aibinu has been nominated for the 2012 promising researcher award and the best teacher award at IIUM Malaysia, and has won several awards at various international and national exhibitions. He has also received multiple research grant awards both in and outside of Nigeria, and has published in both local and international journals and conferences.
