Explore the World: International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)


Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (IIUM) is a Malaysian state university. IIUM is based in Gombak, Selangor, and has six satellite campuses around Malaysia: two medical-focused campuses and a Centre for Foundation Studies in Gambang, Pahang, two city campuses in Kuala Lumpur, and a language and tourist campus in Pagoh, Johor.

IIUM is regarded as one of the world’s top five Islamic universities, and the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization has named it “The Premier International Islamic Research University.”

In the fields of debate, public speaking, and mooting, IIUM is well-known both locally and globally. The 35th World Universities Debating Championship, which took place in 2014, ranked IIUM 10th out of 440 teams.

The Asian British Parliamentary Championship, the United Asian Debating Championship, and the Australasian Intervarsity Debating Championship were all won by IIUM in 2016. IIUM finished second in the World Universities Arabic Debating Championship in 2017.

The institution was formed on Islamic ideals on the 23rd of May, 1983. All subjects are instilled with Islamic principles. IIUM’s 14 faculties provide Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctorate degree programs.

Since its founding in 1987, IIUM has graduated and educated over 70,000 students from over 100 countries. The majority of them were Malaysians.
