An explosion occurred on Aba Road in Kano’s Sabon Gari neighborhood. The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but there are fears of casualties in the popular neighborhood.
The explosion occurred near Winners School, a private secondary school, and destroyed a residential structure as well as a portion of the school. Around 9:30 a.m., an explosion occurred, injuring numerous students.
Several injured youngsters were seen pleading for aid in video footage from the incident. Parents were observed running to the scene in an attempt to save their children.
People trapped in the rubble are being rescued by a team of rescuers. It’s unknown whether the explosion was caused by a bomb or a gas leak.
The police anti-bomb squad and other security units have arrived on scene.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has stated that the early Tuesday morning explosion in Sabon Gari did not take place in a school.
According to Muhammad Garba, the state Commissioner for Information, the event occurred near the school on Aba Road in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government.
