COAS Commissions Solar Farm, Advocate For Continous Capacity Development


Capacity development serves a development purpose but leads to change that is implemented and achieved by those it is meant to benefit, which ensures ownership and sustainability. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has harped on the need for continual capacity development amongst personnel of the Nigerian Army during his visit to Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command (NACWC) at Giri, Abuja.

General Yahaya who also commissioned the NACWC Off Grid Solar Farm at the command yesterday, Wednesday 12 January, 2022. He noted that this is necessary in line with his vision to adequately and timely confront the security challenges bedeviling the nation.

The Chief of Army Staff stated that the adversaries have also extended their nefarious activities to the cyber domain, the COAS emphasized that for the Command to effectively achieve its mandate, there was need for alternative power source, hence the execution of the project.

He, however, expressed his satisfaction with the project and seized the opportunity to communicate with troops in the North East theatre of operations, through their Command and Control Centres. He commended them for their resilience and doggedness in the ongoing counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations.

During his remakes, Major General Abubakar Adamu appreciated the COAS for his support to the command, particularly for the time lay provision of funds for the completion of the Solar Farm. “This has boosted the morale of the personnel and will further enhance the operational capability of the command”, he added.
