President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto Caliphate, Sa’ad Abubakar III, has directed the Muslim Ummah to search for the new moon of Jumada al-Thani 1443 AH.
On Sunday, the leader of Nigerian Muslims makes this disclosure in a press release signed by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto in the person of Sambo Junaidu.
Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III said, “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 which is equivalent to 29th day of Jumada al-Awwal 1443AH shall be the day to look out for the new moon of Jumada al-Thani 1443AH.”

Adding that, “Muslim are, therefore, requested to start looking for the new moon on Monday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan.”
He prayed Allah to help the Muslim Ummah in the practice of our deen.
The Islamic calendar is made up of 12 months, the sixth of which is called Jumada al-Thani. It is also known as Jumaada-ul-Akhir and Jumada-l-Akhra. However, the month is not the most significant month, several important events took place during Jumada al-Thani which are important to Muslims.
