The Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on the 26th anniversary of his ascending the throne of the iconic Sheikh Alimi, saying those years have recorded great strides and unparalleled socioeconomic, cultural and physical growth of the Ilorin emirate.

The Governor AbdulRazaq said:
“I join the entire people of Ilorin Emirate to congratulate Mai Martaba the Emir of Ilorin on this anniversary. Without doubt, His Royal Highness has continued to add colour to the throne of his forebears through his creative, innovative and inclusive leadership that is people-focused. On this day and always, I wish Mai Martaba long, peaceful, and forever-prosperous reign in good health.”
Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari was called upon to inherit the throne on his forebears after the death of his uncle, Lamido Mallam Abdul-Kadir (the 10th Emir of Ilorin). His appointment took effect on the 18th of August, 1995 and the coronation of the 11th Emir took place on the 11th day of the 11th month (November) of 1995.
Since his ascent to the throne, Ilorin has benefited a lot from his wealth of experience and versatility. His reign has been peaceful and prosperous. There have been dramatic changes in the social, political, economic, and cultural standards of the emirate. His love for education and modernization has helped in transforming the emirate from a mere conference Centre of North and South of Nigeria to a Centre of Harmony, Civilization, and Tourism.
Recently, the Emir championed the renovation of the Ilorin Central Mosque which attracted several donations from home and abroad Nigeria. The commissioning of the refurbished Central Mosques was witnessed by many dignitaries, Kings, Politicians, businessmen among others. The Mosque is regarded as one of the most beautiful, well-structured, and well-designed mosques in Nigeria.
