Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, founder and National President of Jama’at Ta’awunil Muslimeen has urged the Traditional Worshippers in the state to withdraw their 21 days ultimatum given to Oluwo to tender his apology on allegation that his utterances against their gods are capable of inciting religious fracas.
He made this known this morning, Wednesday, 10th November, 2021 in his office while reacting to the demands of the traditional worshippers from Oluwo.
The Oluwo in many occasions has insisted that celebrating deities belittled traditional rulers, saying only God is worthy of worship by monarchs.
“A King must celebrate the king of all kings. A King must not celebrate lesser gods but God Almighty.
“I can’t be second in command to any deity. I am not a slave to any deity or idol. I have authority over them all. I am representing the real Kabiyesi who is the God of all” according to Oluwo.
But the traditional religion adherents in the state of Osun threatened to embark on a million-man protest to Oluwo’s palace if Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State, did not compel the monarch to apologise for what they called sacrilege against their deities.
The Mufti, Ameer Taawun, urged the traditional worshippers not to cross their boundary, and make empty threat, “I will like to put the record straight, Oluwo stool is not for traditional worshippers and if they want to protest, they are free to do so, but they must know their boundaries.
“Our crown in Iwo is not for deities and Oluwo has no one to apologize to. Iwo has taken back its position of Islamic leadership in Yorubaland. So, the traditional worshippers should try and look for their deity crown in Ile-Ife and stop making an empty threat on paper.”
