Abdulrasheed Murtala Oladimeji, recently joined 71 other candidates who emerged successful at this year award of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
An indigene of Ilesa, Osun State, Abdulrasheed Murtala Oladimeji popularly called “MURRAY” is also a member of the International Bar Association and many more.

Out a total of 130 shortlisted applicants for the award last month, seventy-two candidates were awarded the rank of the SAN by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC).
The LPPC exercise full control and management of the process of appointing and preserving the dignity of the Rank of SAN. The applicant must be a legal practitioner called to the bar and practicing in Nigeria as an advocate and must have been in active legal practice for at least ten (10) years immediately preceding the date of application as provided by Section 18 of the Act.

The committee had shortlisted 95 candidates from the category of Advocates and 35 from the academics. However, after the screening and interview, only 62 were successful from the Advocates category and 10 from the academics.
On December 8, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad conferred with the rank to successful candidates would however be conferred with the rank at the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The Acting Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court/Secretary of the LPPC, Mrs Hajo Bello signed the list of the successful candidates stating that the decision to elevate the 72 candidates to the prestigious rank of SAN was taken at the LPPC’s 149 plenary sessions held on October 21, 2021.
