Sakinah Medical Outreach at Kisi: A Successful Story

The importance of health in the socio-economic development of any nation cannot be over-emphasized. And in fact, it is used to measure the level of national development of a country. Countries with a well-developed health system are categorized as developed countries. While those with poor or developing health sectors are the developing countries like Nigeria. It is important for the public, private, and social sectors of the economy to invest much in health, as they invest in other sectors of the economy.

Sakinah Medical Outreach invest resources such as time, skills and expertise of their dedicated volunteers, and the generosity of our donors in the healthcare sector. This year, Sakinah Medical Outreach have been able to achieve more, as the organization reach out to the residents of Kisi town, Oyo state.

Sakinah Medical Outreach organized a 2-day community medical intervention program, with the host hospital, the Muslim Ummah Hospital, Kisi. The program started on the 1st of October, the Independence Day of Nigeria, and ended on the 2nd of October, 2021, the organization said in a statement.

According to the Sakinah Medical Outreach, over 100 participants screened. 33 people were diagnosed with varying eye problems, 51 people diagnosed with hernia, and 18 people with lipoma, and only 3 people with appendicitis.

The Muslim Voice findings revealed that, with the available funds, the medical team of Sakinah, all volunteers, was able to organize 13 cataract surgeries, 2 pterygium surgeries, and 35 surgeries for lipoma, and hernia. Making a total of 50 surgeries carried out.

“Thanks to Almighty Allah for the success of this important outreach. For some of the beneficiaries, this was a great break for them and the first chance to see their grandchildren (properly). We thank our donors and volunteers (medical and non-medical) for their commitments and supports. Sakinah Medical Outreach believes that through our partnership, we can touch more lives,” the report noted.
