The Imams and Ulamahu’s Forum in Osun State has joined other well wishers to felicitate with Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, who has just been appointed by Oluwo of Iwoland, the Emir of Yorubaland, as the Grand Mufty of Yorubaland.
This was contained in a message delivered by the chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Moshood Muhammad Robiu during their meeting yesterday, Wednesday, 6th October, 2021.
He said, Oluwo did not make any mistake in his choice for the position. According to him, “We are happy today because, with the choice of Sheikh Daood Imran, the Yoruba Islam will have a new breath.
“He is endowed with vast knowledge in various fields and he knows the challenges facing the present Yoruba Muslims. Many would have thought of themselves as the right choice, but this is not just an ordinary honour. It has huge tasks ahead which they would begin to know and understand as time goes on.
“We urge them to wait till Yoruba Muslims are delivered. Then, they might be called upon. But now, the right man has been chosen. What he needs now is our support and prayer” Imam said.
Grand Mufty of Yorubaland inaugurates Daarul Iftaa
The Daarul iftaa which was inaugurated on Tuesday, 5th October, 2021 after his appointment as the Grand Mufty of Yorubaland by the Emir of Yorubaland, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi will begin to work on issuance of fataawah and Islamic jurisprudence; making research and studies about Islamic development in Yorubaland, collecting Zakat and Sodaqoh to help the needy Muslims, widows and orphans.
It will also work towards uniting Muslim scholars in various fields of studies, like science, commerce, Engineering, medicine and art.
The goal is to create a central power that will begin to instill dignity and pride in the hearts of all Yoruba Muslims for the revival of Yoruba Islam.
The Muslim Voice learnt that, the step taken by Oluwo of Iwo Land (Emir Of Yorubaland) Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi would assist the ongoing formation of Islamic Structure in Yorubaland which its ideology is being championed by Sheikh Daood Imran with the help of Sheikh Yahqub Abdul Baaqi, the Wazeer of Yorubaland. Both are unanimously working together to ensure unity among Yoruba Muslims, and creating Islamic front for, the revival of Yoruba Islam.
