Mr Akeem Badru received an award as the 2nd best teacher in Ogun State for the Primary School Category, at the event organised to celebrate the 2021 World Teachers Day, held on Tuesday, at the Obas’ Complex, Abeokuta.
In an interview with The Muslim Voice NG, Mr Akeem said “I feel thankful, favoured and happy. This is indeed a blessing from Allah.” He said in a statement:
“I am deeply honoured and greatful to be among the celebrated teachers on this year’s World Teachers Day by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
It is a huge honour for me to receive the award as the 2nd Best Teacher of the Year in Ogun State Primary School Category.“I celebrate all other nominees for this prestigious award in all the categories, I encourage you never to give up for your success is sure soon.
I dedicate this award to all the learners in underserved communities who are going through hard times to access basic education and also to all teachers who are going above and beyond to ensure that learners irrespective of their social and economic background enjoy quality teaching and learning that will guarantee a better future for them.I acknowledged the immense contributions of all that helped me achieve this feat. This space will not be enough to start mentioning names one after the other. I say “thank you to you all”
The theme for the 2021 World Teachers’ Day, ‘Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery’. Meanwhile, the Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State disclosed at the event that the best teachers in the State will be rewarded with cash prizes ranging from N2m to N1m million Naira. The governor equally gifted a semi-detached bungalow to the best overall teacher for year 2021 in the State, according to official statement.
In 2019, Governor Abiodun initiated the idea of “Governor’s Teachers’ School Excellence Award”, with a view to creating healthy and meaningful competition among teachers in the State. This motivation encourage teachers for efficient service delivery, it was imperative to celebrate those who had shown creativity, dedication and hard work in the course of imparting knowledge to younger ones.
