
The Enugu born Sheikh Isa Friday Okonkwo was yesterday, 21st September, 2021 adorned as Justice for Peace, International Peace Advocate on the occasion of the international day for peace organised by United Nations Polac.

Sheikh Isa Friday Okonkwo hails from the village of Akpugo in Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State. His commitment to skill acquisition with respect to peace has been exemplary. This has led him to studying Peace, Conflict Resolution and Strategic Studies at both PGD and Master’s level in Nile University and National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) respectively.
He is an advocate of peaceful coexistence and has been so dogged and tenacious about it, which brought about his trip to Vienna, Austria under the auspices of KAICIID Dialogue Centre on Inter-religious (and Inter-cultural) Dialogue (IRD) for peaceful co-existence that accorded him the accolade of a Fellow (2017 -2018).
His contribution to peaceful co-existence earned him the recognition and invitation by the State Department of United States of America to participate in the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) in 2017 with special focus on the culture of peaceful coexistence in a multireligious and multicultural society.
Sheikh Isa Okonkwo is so poised about peaceful co-existence and made a difference when he served as the Director of Administration, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) where he interfaced with Christian organisations especially Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on variety of issues aimed at ensuring inter-religious peaceful co-existence. He is married and blessed with many children.
