MUSWEN launch book, Titled “Islam in Yorubaland: History, Education and Culture”


The book launch, held in Lagos had in attendance, prominent Muslim scholars in the Southwest, captains of industries, traditional rulers, and Nigeria’s political bigwigs.

On 29th of April 2021, the Muslim Ummah of Southwest Nigeria (MUSWEN), has launched a book “Islam in Yorubaland: History, Education and Culture” which showcase historical records of Islam in Yorubaland at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja GRA. MUSWEN is the umbrella body for all Muslims, Muslim organisations and institutions in the South West region of Nigeria.

The event was attended by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Osun State Governor Mr Isiaq Gboyega Oyetola, Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad III, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Idiat Adebule.

Other prominent personalities in attendance were Oluwo of Iwo Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, Oniru of Iruland Oba Wasiu Gbolahan Lawal, Ogun State Deputy Governor Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

The event was chaired by the founder of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) as well as Founder and Chairman of the FATE Foundation, Alhaji Tajudeen Fola Adeola. While the book presentation was done by former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Jubrila Ayinla and it was reviewed by the Provost, Federal College of Education Iwo, Prof. Rafiu Adebayo.
